Fellowship

Fellowship is awarded to nurses who can demonstrate a significant contribution to the profession.

Fellowship is awarded by the Board after careful consideration of a candidate's portfolio of evidence of their contribution to the profession and is the highest accolade a nurse can attain.

Nurses wishing to apply for Fellowship should first contact the Membership Officer on (02) 9745 7569, who will advise them of how to proceed. Applications can be made at any time throughout the year.

To become a College Fellow please print, complete and return application form (see below) with additional documentation (as detailed in the application form) to the Membership Officer.

Fellows Reception

The College of Nursing’s Annual Fellows Reception is a prestigious function and one of our peak events for the year. It is an opportunity to recognise Fellows for the valuable contribution that they make to nursing and to the College and to share these achievements in a collegial way. It also provides a chance for them to meet our Board, other Fellows and Executive staff and special guests or supporters of the College, or to mark special events.

The Fellows Reception is usually held at NSW Government House, when it is available, as a mark of the significance of the event.

I am pleased to advise that we have developed a process for nominations for Life Fellowship and Honorary Fellowship of The College of Nursing.

Life Fellowship honours College Fellows who have significantly contributed to the activities and achievements of the College over many years. Life Fellows can be nominated by Fellows of the College for consideration by the Board via the Censors Committee. Conferral of Life Fellowship is in recognition of a distinguished and outstanding relationship with the College.

Honorary Fellowship may be conferred on any person by special resolution of the Board and is the highest honour that can be bestowed by the Board on an individual. This is awarded to eminent people who are not nurses, but by virtue of their contributions to the College, to the profession or to health care consumers, deserve recognition by the College and the profession.

The nomination forms below have been developed to assist Fellows of the College who may wish to forward a nomination for consideration by the Board. There are many eminent nurses and others who have made significant contributions to the College and we look forward to nominations.
