HUMAN RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE
The inaugural meeting of The College of Nursing Human Research Ethics Committee was held on the 22nd November, 2001.
The HREC is constituted in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans, 1999 and has been formed to ensure the ethical acceptability of research conducted in the College of Nursing on or by staff, students of the College, and members and fellows of the College which involves human participants, human tissue or personally identifiable records, and for the provision of advice to the College on related matters.
All researchers who propose to conduct research at the College, are required to obtain advice on ethical clearance from the HREC prior to commencing the research.
- where non-affiliated researchers do not have access to an institution or organisation with a human research ethics committee constituted in accordance with the National Statement, they may make application to the Executive Director to have their research examined by the HREC.
