Practices that are disproved or appropriate for mothers and babies in limited circumstances are in wide use, and beneficial practices are underused.

A snapshot survey of doctors and nurses treating patients in the UK with alcohol-related harm showed that many believe public health campaigns to be ineffective and that action on sales of low priced alcohol is the most important weapon for tackling the rising tide of alcohol problems.

US: Safe Sex on Your Cell

The National Institutes of Health recently awarded a $2 million grant to a campaign that brings safe sex awareness to women via cell phone soap operas. Funding will be used for a study to assess the effectiveness of this innovative educational method on risky sexual behavior.
